Lance Armstrong (USA) and Jessica Jacobs (USA) took the titles at IRONMAN® 70.3® Florida on May 20. This was both Armstrong’s and Jacobs’ first IRONMAN 70.3 title.
David Kahn (USA) exited the water first followed by a chase pack that included Francesc Godoy (ESP), Andres Castillo (COL) and Armstrong. Kahn maintained his lead out of T1 and for approximately 20 miles of the bike. Armstrong moved into first position and dominated for the remainder of the race. He posted the fastest bike and run splits of the day, and crushed the competition by putting more than 10 minutes between him and second place. This race marked Armstrong’s first IRONMAN 70.3 title and fourth IRONMAN 70.3 top-10 finish.
